I could not be more excited to share this Brugmansia flower essence with you all! I believe it’s one of the best, if not *the* best, essence I’ve ever made.
Brugmansia, commonly known as Angel’s Trumpet, is a sacred plant in the nightshade family. There are only cultigens of Brugmansia. No wild varieties remain in the world, a fact which points towards a very long standing relationship between humans and this plant.
Brugmansia is a tropical plant native to central and south America, but is grown as an ornamental all around the world. Even in my zone 5b climate, I’m able to grow them in pots. They are beloved for their intoxicating scent and large, pendulous bell flowers.
Brugmansia is occasionally an additive in ayahuasca brews, or the leaves are mixed with tobacco and smoked by shamans during ceremony. Many of the Solanaceae family medicinal qualities you may be familiar with in plants like belladonna, datura, henbane, mandrake, etc. are also present in Brugmansia.
I crafted this essence on the night of the Full Moon in Pisces. As I prepared the essence I blessed it with tobacco smoke, something I’ve never felt called to do before. I left the essence to soak in the full moonlight, plus it received a few hours of morning sun.
The days leading up to that particular full moon were very tender and opening for me. I found myself feeling more like MYSELF for the first time in a long time. A lot of tensions were cried out, repressed memories came to light, and I felt general ease and flow in my subsequent days. I can’t help but think that this Brugmansia essence was a part of my process, and that this energy may find its way into each bottle as well.
I believe this essence has potential for a wide array of uses. The main keyword that comes to mind is EXPANSION. I can see it being helpful in any area of your life where expansion is needed. This could be in the ways you know your thinking or emotional patterns are limiting and in need of a little nudge.
I see this expansive quality also being helpful for creative projects and I’m envisioning artists adding a few drops to their paint water.
Meditations, dream work, anxiety caused by tightness or tension, repressed emotions, psychic enhancement, and unconditional brotherly love for humanity all come to mind for this essence as well.
I know this sounds very grand and I don’t say this all lightly! As with any essence, this will not magically cure all that ails you. You have to be willing to meet the plants (at least) halfway.
