What is a f l o w e r e s s e n c e ?

Just like us, plants are living beings with unique vibrational fields.

Through a delicate process which captures a plant’s vibrational imprint, essences aim to concentrate that plant's energetic signature into a bottle. Unlike essential oils or herbal extracts, they contain no scent or physical plant matter. Instead, they carry the unique pattern of consciousness held within a flower’s form and presence.

Every plant expresses a particular quality of being. When you engage with essences, you invite these subtle energies into your own vibrational field.

Flower essences taken internally is one of the best ways to connect to these vibrations and allow them to illuminate and gently support a shift in the patterns beneath our thoughts, behaviors, and habitual responses. These are not forceful remedies. They do not encourage an overriding or suppression of emotion; rather, they help us become more conscious of what is already here, offering support to move with it instead of becoming lost in it.

What always brings me back to essences, and what I find so amazing about them, is how their very gentle and subtle touch can bring about such profound change.

Essences are also great for working with plants that you wouldn’t otherwise want to ingest, as there is no physical plant matter present in the essence, just the energetic imprint.

The process of selecting the correct flower essence for yourself is best done with the intuition rather than the mind. Although reading write-ups can be helpful in this process, I encourage people to wait for that “ah-ha” or “oh yes” feeling when they see an essence. Sometimes what we think we need is very different than we actually need.

With essences, we challenge the societal notion in which we’re absolutely swimming in: the idea that more is better, more is stronger, more is more is more! If you’re new to essences, I suggest starting by working with one bottle that you feel intuitively drawn to. Start by taking 1-3 drops. Reeeeeally slow down and notice how you feel. From there you can increase the number of drops and number of times per day you take it. You will likely wish to adjust your dosage based on how energetically sensitive you are, how you notice the particular remedy effecting you, and what’s going on in your life at the moment. You may find yourself feeling called to work with a few different remedies at a time - I would suggest adding one new one at a time and letting yourself develop the recognition of it’s unique signature rather than starting with 5 bottles all at once.

I’ve found that as the years have gone on, I’ve needed less and less of a remedy to feel it’s impact. 15 years ago I would take 30-40 drops, three times a day. Now I find I don’t need more than 1-2 drops as needed.

Some ways to work with essences:

  • A few drops on the tongue or a glass of water (most common)

  • A few drops in your morning cup of coffee, tea, juice, smoothie, etc.

  • Applied topically to energetic centers of the body or places of tension

  • One or two dropperfuls in a bath

  • Added to perfumes, hydrosols, or a spray bottle with water and alcohol

  • A few drops added to your mop bucket or natural cleaning solution

  • A few drops added to water used for painting

  • A few drops around the doorway of your home
