THIRD EYE
THIRD EYE

The third eye governs perception, intuition, and the ability to see beyond surface-level appearances. It’s the energetic seat of insight—not just in a mystical sense, but in our capacity to recognize deeper patterns, hold multiple perspectives, and experience reality from a more spacious yet accurate perception.
When the third eye is in harmony, we experience a quiet clarity—an inner knowing that helps us see beyond surface appearances and respond to life with wisdom, insight, and presence. We become better at making decisions (big and small) and sensing what’s ultimately right for us. We develop the ability to perceive paradox, connect inner and outer meaning, and hold a transpersonal orientation to life without becoming overwhelmed or rigid. Our imagination becomes a tool for vision rather than escape, and we begin to trust the subtle signals that arise internally. This kind of vision doesn't snub the physical body; in fact, a well-regulated third eye emerges through embodiment.
When out of balance, we may experience feelings of confusion, dissociation, mental fog, or getting stuck in fixed beliefs with a tendency to overanalyze everything. We might find ourselves doubting our intuition, second-guessing decisions, or feeling stuck in loops of worry and indecision. For others, imbalance may show up as a form of spiritual bypassing—relying on fantasy, “signs”, or abstract, unfounded beliefs to avoid taking action or acknowledging our emotional reality. The ability to clearly perceive (both inner and outer) reality becomes clouded, making it genuinely difficult to trust oneself or see situations for what they truly are.
For some, the intuition is entangled with fear and trauma - especially if one’s perceptions were invalidated or gaslit in early life or if acknowledging the reality of one’s situation could have be dangerous. When a person is repeatedly told that what they feel or sense isn’t real, they may learn to distrust their inner signals, even when those signals are accurate. This can lead to a split between what they know deep down and what they feel safe expressing or acting on. Rebuilding trust with one’s intuition often requires addressing these early wounds - learning to stay present with the body, validate internal experiences, and gently differentiate between fear-based reactivity and true inner guidance.
On top of any personal woundings around the third-eye, the general consensus at this time is that the intuition doesn’t even exist! (lol) So most people grow up being taught to repress, ignore, or even belittle their intuition. This results in a society of people who are disconnected from their inner-knowing, relying instead on so-called “logic” (except it’s never truly logical), and external validation to guide their decisions. Over time, this disconnection may lead to feelings of confusion, lack of direction, and an over-reliance on external sources for answers, leaving many searching for meaning in places that only further detach them from their true vision.
When one wakes up to the possibility that the intuition is a real thing, they may overcompensate with ineffective strategies that still avoid using their actual intuition. Some may begin to distrust their thinking mind entirely, relying only on emotional impressions, confusing feelings with reality. Others might latch onto every gut feeling as absolute truth, without pausing to discern whether it's the intuition or unconscious forces of fear/desire pulling the strings. Others may focus on “figuring it out,” believing that they’re trusting their intuition when in reality they’re still relying entirely on tactical strategies. Yet others will blindly repeat the dogma of what they’ve heard someone else say about the intuitive “realms” - talking about all kinds of higher dimensions, beings, and made up hard rules about how this all works.
Why do any of the above when in reality, the intuition is so, so simple? It’s just right there, as basic and fundamental as our less subtle senses.
When we come to a place where the third eye is well balanced, we’re better able to perceive reality with clarity and wisdom. We’re supported in trusting our intuition with clear thinking, creating a grounded sense of insight and understanding.
By addressing the wounds of the third eye, we can begin to trust our inner wisdom and intuition with greater confidence. Healing these wounds allows us to see beyond surface-level perceptions and connect with deeper truths, both about ourselves and the world around us. As we clear away the fog of doubt and fear, our ability to discern and make wise decisions strengthens. This process fosters a sense of clarity, where we no longer feel lost or confused, but grounded in our own inner knowing.
**As always! “Healing” the third eye center takes more than just dropping some flower essences on the tongue. Those imbalances aren’t random! They’re there from some wound/belief system/trauma that will ultimately need to be processed if we truly want a well functioning third eye.
