Belladonna, or Deadly Nightshade - the devil’s favorite plant. Her name literally means “beautiful woman.” Atropa, her latin name meaning “inevitable”, comes from the Greek Fate, Atropos, whose job was to decide the time of death for each human through cutting their thread of life. Belladonna was a sacred ally to Circe, the Greek enchantress, Goddess of magic, and witch, known for her connection to plant medicine and spells.

Energetically, Belladonna opens up the heart and sacral chakras, helping to dislodge patterns stuck there. She is an anti-depressant, anti-anxiety, *potent* aphrodisiac, pain-killer, who can bring on feelings of sedation and euphoria. She can be a powerful aid in lucid dreaming and astral projection.
